Star of the West acquiring Citizens LLC
Star of the West is expanding its footprint across Michigan with the acquisition of Citizens LLC.
Lisa Woodke tells Brownfield the company purchased Citizen’s Charlotte, Vermontville, and Potterville locations, and intends to rent the Battle Creek and Otto Road locations.
“We will be continuing the locations and the activities that the farmers have been familiar with,” she says.
She says the agronomy, elevator, and food-grade processing facilities are a good fit for Star of the West’s portfolio including Citizen’s specialty soybeans like natto beans.
“The growers that work with Citizens are a little further south and west and have been able to grow the natto soybeans so we’re very excited to partner,” she says.
Star of the West also has locations in Indiana, Minnesota, North Dakota, Ohio, and New York.
