Fall Covers for Spring Savings sign-up begins soon
Enrollment in the Illinois Department of Agriculture’s Fall Covers for Spring Savings program begins Wednesday, December 15th.
Funding for the program has doubled this year, so the first 100,000 acres enrolled and planted to cover crops this fall ahead of an insurable crop next spring will receive a $5 per acre discount on crop insurance.
Farmers will need to contact their local USDA Farm Service Agency office to verify cover crop acres and submit an application to the IL Department of Agriculture.
Land already receiving other state and federal incentives from program like EQIP and CSP are not eligible. Sign-up closes January 15th.
