Marilyn Jane Howard

Marilyn Jane Howard, 89, of Muscatine, passed away on Monday, December 6, 2021, at Addington Place of Muscatine, formerly SunnyBrook.

A funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at Calvary Church in the East Chapel. Reverend Dan Schoepf will officiate. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. on Friday, December 10, 2021, at the church. Memorials may be made to Gideon’s or Calvary Church. Online Condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Marilyn was born on January 9, 1932, in Muscatine, the daughter of Charles M. and Florence Grensing Mason Sr. She married Richard L. Howard on June 17, 1951.

Marilyn worked at Northwestern Bell Telephone Company, Public Health Nursing of Muscatine, and in the office of Muscatine Sanitation Department. She was a charter member of Calvary Baptist Church. Her favorite book in the bible was John. Marilyn’s favorite bible verse was “But My God Shall Supply All Your Needs” according to his words in Glory by Christ Jesus Philippian’s 4:19.

She enjoyed sewing, refinishing furniture, painting articles, hand work, and gardening. Marilyn helped her husband in the fields and with the farm animals when an extra hand was needed. She also enjoyed fishing in Canada and being a snowbird in Arizona for 26 years. Marilyn will be remembered as a loving wife, mom, grandmother, great grandmother, and sister.

Marilyn will be greatly missed by two sons, Rick Howard and his significant other, Karen Elliott, of Muscatine, and Todd Howard and his wife, Brenda, of Wilton; one daughter, Kristen Howard and her significant other, Jerry Duncan, of Rock Island, Illinois; her grandchildren, Jeremy Howard of Urbandale, Angela Buckland and her husband, Adam, of Wilton, Randy Howard of Washington D.C., Ryan Howard and his wife, Audrey, of Carmel, Indiana, Danielle Gaeta and her husband, Josh, of Mashpee, Massachusetts, Megan Haigh and her husband, Cody, of Rock Island, Illinois, Brandon Long and his significant other, Terryn Davis, of Moline, Illinois; her great grandchildren, Noah Howard, Brody Howard, Hunter Howard of Albuquerque, New Mexico, JJ Gaeta and Bristol Gaeta of Mashpee Massachusetts, Evelyn Howard, Archer Howard, and Olivia Howard of Carmel, Indiana, Tobias Long and Ivy Crose of Moline, Illinois, and Katelyn Buckland of Wilton.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one brother, Charlie Mason Jr.; one brother-in-law, Lyle Lucas; one sister-in-law, Beverly Mason; and one very young sister-in-law; and a special cousin, Don Grensing.
