Global Dairy Trade index up again Tuesday

The Global Dairy Trade index rose 1.4% in Tuesday trading.  The average price was $4,290 per ton or $1.94 per pound.

All dairy product prices went up in the trading session except sweet whey powder, which had no sales activity. 

Butter made the highest gains, jumping 4.6% to $5,791 per ton or $2.62 per pound. 

Lactose rose 3.5% to $1,339 per ton or $.60 per pound. 

Anhydrous milk fat rose 3% to $6,668 per ton or $3.02 per pound. 

Buttermilk powder went up 2.9% to $3,620 per ton or $1.64 per pound. 

Skim milk powder was up 1.3% to $3,721 per ton or $1.68 per pound. 

Cheddar cheese prices were up 1% to $5,220 per ton or $2.36 per pound. 

Whole milk powder gained six-tenths of a percent to $4,008 per ton or $1.81 per pound.

The December 7th trading session marked the eighth straight session the index went up or held steady.  There were 167 bidders buying 104 total purchases totaling more than 31 thousand metric tons of dairy products Tuesday.
