Kathy Jean Rickey, 71, of Muscatine, passed away on Friday, December 3, 2021, at her home.
Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 7, 2021, at St. Mathias Church. The Reverend Khoa Le will officiate. Burial will take place in Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 until 6 p.m., on Monday, December 6, 2021, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in her honor to Charles Rickey. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.
Kathy was born on July 3, 1950, in Muscatine, the daughter of Raymond J. and Shirley J. (Boldt) Sizek. She married Charles ‘Rick’ Rickey on November 11, 1977. They were married for 44 years.
She graduated from Hayes High School in 1968 and was a lifetime catholic member of St. Mary’s Church. She enjoyed collecting cookbooks, canning, preserving food, and making apple butter and apple sauce and giving it to family and friends. She loved her orchards and growing apples, peaches, and pears. She also enjoyed spending time cutting coupons for family and friends, camping, and traveling with her husband. She loved her dog Shadow.
Kathy is survived by her husband Charles ‘Rick’ Rickey of Muscatine and his children, Tammy Kay Rickey, Brenda Sue (Rickey) Morgan, and husband, Eric, Angela (Rickey) Gerels, and husband, Jeff, Betty (Rickey) Howerton; ten grandchildren; several great grandchildren; and one sister Linda R. Beckman, and husband, Chuck, of Muscatine.
She is preceded in death by her parents.
