Ricketts: delaying ethanol blending requirements isn’t support for producers
Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts says patience in the ethanol industry is running on empty as stakeholders wait for the release of ethanol blending requirements. “I just don’t understand what the Biden Administration is thinking and what the EPA is doing because you have ethanol, which will help reduce carbon emissions, help reduce greenhouse gases and help support what they want to do with climate change.”
The Environmental Protection Agency missed a November 30th deadline to release Renewable Volume Obligations under the Renewable Fuel Standard.
Ricketts tells Brownfield setting RVO’s at a robust level is a win for everyone. “You’ve got a fuel source here that already has a distribution system. We already know how it works. It’s going to save people money at the pump. It’s going to help clean up our air and it’s going to be great for our farmers and ranchers and yet they don’t support it.”
Ricketts spoke with reporters at the Nebraska Cattlemen’s Convention in Kearney.
