Nebraska, Kansas receive more than $140 million in water infrastructure from EPA

The EPA is providing Kansas with nearly $80 million and $63 million to Nebraska to upgrade the state’s water infrastructure and create jobs.

In letters to Governors Laura Kelly and Pete Rickets, the agency asked the states to address disproportionate environmental burdens placed on underserved communities.

Acting EPA Region 7 Administrator Edward Chu says the investments support an aging water system in rural populations that are shrinking.

The $44 billion dollars of funding are allocated through the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law within the State Revolving Fund.
