John ‘Jack’ L. Lemkau

John ‘Jack’ L. Lemkau, 86, of Muscatine, passed away on Tuesday, November 30, 2021, Mercy Iowa City.

A private service will be held. Burial will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home will be in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society. Online condolences may be made at www.wittichfuneralhome.com.

Jack was born on April 8, 1935, in Benton Harbor, Michigan, the son of John and Ruby Callahan Lemkau. He married Carol Kurriger on September 29, 1956, at St. Mary’s Church, in Muscatine.

He retired from Bendix-Litton Sales after 44 years. He was a farmer from 1970 until 2015 and was in the Navy Reserve.

He enjoyed going to the casinos, Sunday supper with the family, and the yearly trip to Branson, Missouri. He loved fishing, farming, and gardening, and was an avid Hawkeye and Cardinal fan.

Jack is survived by his children, Kevin Lemkau and wife, Lori, and Lori Dietz and husband, Patrick, both of Muscatine; five grandchildren, Keely Todd, Jens Lemkau, Miles Dietz-Castel, Paige Wydola, and Madison Cardoza; four great grandchildren, Kendall Todd, Aisly Todd, Lilian Cardoza, and Edmund Wydola; and three siblings, Robert Lemkau and wife, Mary, of Muscatine, Larry Lemkau and wife, Donna, of Muscatine, and James Lemkau and wife, Bridget, of Florida.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and three brothers in infancy.
