USW &NAWG pleased with Vietnam tariff elimination

The leading wheat groups in the U.S. says it’s welcome news to U.S. producers and their customers and wheat food processors in Vietnam that the Vietnamese government is eliminating the tariff on US wheat imports.

They say Vietnam imported more than 500-Thousand metric tons of U.S. hard red spring, soft white, and, hard and soft red winter wheat in the last marketing year valued at nearly $130-Million dollars. That’s second only to Australia in volume.

U.S. Wheat Associates president Darren Padget says eliminating the tariff is important to growers like him because U.S. wheat exports to Vietnam are much slower this year because of short supplies and rising prices.
