Michigan Ag Commission awards expansion grants

The Michigan Agriculture Commission has awarded $300,000 to three companies through the Food and Agriculture Investment Fund.

West Michigan Beef in Hudsonville received half of the funds to expand custom and conventional slaughter processing to support most livestock markets in the state.  The total project is estimated at $35,500,000 and will double processing capacity to 1,200 animals per week.

Maple Hardwoods in Hessel was granted $90,000 for a sawmill expansion and Sprinkles Donut Shop in Hudsonville was awarded $60,000 to expand into an industrial kitchen to meet growing demand.
