Bonnie confirmed as FPAC under sec

Several national ag groups are applauding the U.S. Senate confirmation Tuesday of Robert Bonnie as USDA Under Secretary for Farm Production and Conservation.

The president of the National Association of Conservation Districts Michael Crowder says Bonnie has extensive knowledge and experience with USDA and climate-smart ag and forestry. He says Bonnie understands the need for voluntary and locally-led conservation programs, and NACD is excited to work with him to continue bringing those programs to farmers, ranchers and landowners across the country.”

Bonnie was raised on a farm in Kentucky and NACD says he has dedicated his career to addressing climate change through agricultural and forestry-based solutions.

The National Corn Growers Association congratulated Bonnie saying he will play an important role in responding to farmers’ needs as production ag continues to face multiple challenges from climate to markets.

Bonnie was previously USDA Under Secretary for National Resources and Environment and was a senior advisor for climate. He was on the Biden administration’s transition team.
