The Muscatine City Council will be asked to approve a proposed Memorial Gazebo near the south entrance to the Soccer West Complex when the Council convenes at 7 p.m. Thursday (November 4) in the Council Chambers of Muscatine City Hall.
A virtual meeting will be held in conjunction with the in-person meeting for those who want to view the proceedings or make a comment but do not feel comfortable in attending in person. Details for joining that meeting are listed below.
The family of the late Charles Harper, who was an avid bicyclist, is petitioning the Council to approve a permanent improvement on public property in the form of a Memorial Gazebo along the West Side Trail near the east entrance to the Soccer West parking lot on South Houser Street. The Harper family will donate the materials and labor to construct the gazebo.
Also on the agenda are several housekeeping items from the Finance Department in regards to the internal advancement of funds for Tax Increment Urbana Renewal Projects, and the annual appropriation for Tax Increment Financing (TIF) rebate obligations.
The Council will also be asked to approve the contract and bond for the 2021/2022 Full-Depth Patching Project. The list of streets to be included in the 2021/2022 project were selected from a matrix developed to rank streets and alleys in Muscatine. Heuer Construction, Inc., was the apparent low responsive, responsible low bidder at $440,800. The project is anticipated to begin in the spring of 2022.

Citizens attending the meeting are asked to follow current CDC (Centers for Disease Control) recommendations for wearing a mask indoors whether vaccinated or not.
