Marginal growth expected for Mexican dairy imports

The U.S. Foreign Ag Service says Mexico continues to offer U.S. exporters and domestic producers growth opportunities in 2022.

In its annual report, the FAS office says production and consumption of most dairy products are expected to remain mostly flat with the most gains for powder products.  Imports of nonfat dry milk are forecast two percent higher while dry whole milk powder is expected to increase 14 percent, the U.S. is the main supplier of both.

The FAS says a growing population and reopening of key foodservice sectors are helping keep dairy demand afloat.  The economy is not expected to recover to pre-pandemic levels until at least 2023.
