New COVID cases in Muscatine County below 100 for second straight week

Grundy County was the only county in Iowa not in the red level for community transmission this past week on the CDC's map.

New coronavirus cases remained below 100 for the second straight week and there were no deaths in Muscatine County.

According to data published Friday morning on the State of Iowa’s COVID-19 dashboard, there were 73 positive tests between Oct. 16 and 22 for a total of 6,806 since the pandemic began. The last time there were less than 100 cases for consecutive weeks was in August.

The rate of positive tests dropped another point to 6 percent this past week, and the death toll in Muscatine remained at 113.

7,345 positive cases and 100 additional deaths statewide were reported in the last seven days, bringing the total to 514,870 cases and 6,848 deaths. The statewide test positivity rate was 8 percent, a decrease of one percent from a week ago.

Through Friday morning, 22,613 Muscatine County residents and 1,710,639 Iowa residents have completed their vaccine regiment of either one or two doses.

Muscatine County Public Health, 1609 Cedar Street, is conducting walk-in vaccination clinics on Wednesdays and Fridays. Call them with questions 563-263-0122.
