Nebraska farmer finishes ‘record’ harvest
South-Central Nebraska farmer Jay Reiners says he’s wrapped up a record harvest.
“Outside of some storm damage stuff, the rest of it was probably record yield corn and soybeans and I’ve talked to some neighbors and it’s the same way – some outstanding yields in my area.”
The corn and soybean grower from Juniata tells Brownfield corn yields were about 280 bushels-per-acre with soybeans over 80 bushels-per-acre.
Reiners says the success of his crops remains a mystery. “Conditions must have been just right. I thought we had taken some top end off during that late heat spell but apparently we didn’t.”
He finished harvest last week.
