Paul Edgar Kemper, 92, of Muscatine, died Monday, October 18, 2021, at Unity Point Hospital in Muscatine.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Friday, October 22, 2021, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home with the Memorial Service to follow at 12:30 p.m. Burial will take place in Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Sweetland United Methodist Church or Paul Kemper Revocable Trust. Casket bearers will be his grandchildren, Nathan Daufeldt, Eric Daufeldt, Marsha Gingerich and Jeffrey Kemper, as well as Marsha’s husband, Jason, and Paul’s great grandson, Preston Daufeldt.
Paul was born on July 7, 1929, in Muscatine, the son of Edgar and Beulah French Kemper. He married Joyce Ogilvie on August 9, 1953, in Muscatine.
Paul was a member of the Sweetland United Methodist Church and served in the Army during the Korean War. He was a proud farmer for over 50 years and raised tomatoes for the Heinz plant. Paul was in the Elks Chanters, served on the Muscatine County Board of Supervisors, was a Board Member of the Buffalo Bank and loved to play golf in his spare time.
Survivors include his five grandchildren, Nathan Daufeldt and wife, Amanda, of West Liberty, Eric Daufeldt and wife, Nicole, of Moscow, Marsha Gingerich and husband, Jason, of Moscow, Jay Kemper and wife, Jill, of Mojave, California, and Jeffrey Kemper and wife, Jeannie, of Lexington Park, Maryland; six great-grandchildren, Preston, Owen, Samantha, Kenzie, Andee and Paisley Daufeldt, his brother, Ed Kemper and his two sisters, Gladys Mittman and Catherine “Kitty” Root, all of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Kemper, his son, Jim Kemper, his daughter, Cindy Hatfield and 5 other siblings (Ruth, Martha, Doris, Mary and Mark).
