Kansas soybean harvest behind schedule with corn outpacing averages

It’s a tale of two harvests for Kansas farmers with corn ahead of schedule and soybeans behind normal pace.

The latest crop progress report says 66 percent of corn is in compared to the five-year average of 55 percent.

Soybean harvest is 10 percent behind last year at 27 percent with the crop rated 56 percent good-to-excellent.

Sixty-three percent of winter wheat has been planted, eight percent behind last year.

Sorghum is rated at 44 percent good-to-excellent with 32 percent harvested. 

Cotton harvest has started with two percent of the crop in and it called 53 percent good-to-excellent.
