Yields are average to slightly above average for SW Indiana farmer

Southwest Indiana farmer Ben Kron says he’s seeing a lot of variability when it comes to corn and soybean yields this year.  “The corn crop is actually turning out very well,” he says.  “The bean crop, has kind of been hit and miss and really depends on the area we are in.  I would say it is average to slightly above average on the bean crop and definitely above average on our corn crop.”

He tells Brownfield he’s holding his breath, hoping they don’t have a major equipment breakdown during harvest and need parts.  “Because it’s a real possibility of being completely shut down because it is impossible to find,” he says.  “It’s a disaster – is the best way I could possibly describe that.”

Kron says he’s about a third finished with harvest and with some decent weather could make some significant progress in the coming weeks.
