Kansas farmers take advantage of weather as harvest is ahead of schedule

Favorable weather conditions allowed Kansas farmers to continue to plant winter wheat and harvest corn and soybeans.

The latest crop progress report says 42 percent of winter wheat has been planted on pace with the five-year average.

Corn condition is rated 52 percent good-to-excellent with 51 percent harvested.

Fourteen percent of soybeans have been harvested with the crop rated 58 percent good to excellent.

Nineteen percent of sorghum has been harvested and one percent of the state’s cotton crop is in.
