Gallagher to retire from DMI

The man leading America’s dairy checkoff activities is retiring.  Dairy Management Inc’s CEO Tom Gallagher announced he will leave his post after 30 years to devote more time to teaching and other activities.  DMI’s board of directors has already named President and CEO of the Innovation Center for U.S. Dairy Barb O’Brian as Gallagher’s successor.

DMI’s Vice President of Media Relations and Issues Management Scott Wallin tells Brownfield the timeline for Gallagher’s departure has not been determined since he will remain the CEO through the transition process.  Wallin says Gallagher is working with O’Brian and the board to ensure a successful transition.

Gallagher is attending World Dairy Expo this week, and he will host DMI’s “Farming Forward Through Enhanced Innovation and Farm Profitability” session Wednesday.
