Severe thunderstorms are still possible as we move later into this evening thanks to a cold front that will usher in fall-like weather to eastern Iowa ahead of the start of autumn on Wednesday.
National Weather Service Quad Cities forecasters say a cold front near I-35 in central Iowa will move east, causing the line of storms in central Iowa to spread over eastern Iowa this evening.
The primary threat with this line will be winds around 50 mph, but a severe storm is possible, especially west of I-380.
A severe thunderstorm watch has been posted just west of our area until 10 p.m.
NWS Quad Cities said Muscatine County is currently not expected to see the thunderstorms arrive until well after sunset which will allow a decrease in intensity of the storms below severe criteria.
Heavy rainfall is still a possibility with some of the storms, which could quickly drop 1 to 2 inches of rain in some areas.
