Rain delays harvest in Tennessee

The USDA says rains from the remnants of Hurricane Ida delayed harvest last week in parts of Tennessee.

Seventy-five percent of the state’s corn crop is in good to excellent condition. Seven percent of corn is harvested, 91 percent is dented, and 38 percent is mature.

Seventy-two percent of soybeans are rated good to excellent with 95 percent setting pods and 16 percent dropping leaves.

Cotton improved slightly with 63 percent of the crop being rated good to excellent. Tobacco is rated 62 percent good to excellent with 46 percent of the crop cut.

Pasture conditions held steady at 60 percent good to excellent. Farmers continued to report army worm damage in pastures and hayfields.
