MO corn harvest underway

Missouri’s corn harvest has begun as crop conditions mostly improved last week. 

The USDA says the state’s corn harvest is underway, 84 percent of the crop has dented. More than 30 percent of the crop is mature, and 64 percent is rated good to excellent, up one percent from last week. 

Nearly all soybeans are blooming, and 88 percent of the crop is setting pods. Missouri’s soybean condition improved to 61 percent good to excellent. 

Eighteen percent of the cotton crop’s bolls are opening while the crop fell to 59 percent good to excellent.

Rice is six percent harvested and is rated 59 percent good to excellent.

Seventy-five percent of Missouri’s pastures are rated good to excellent. Topsoil is 69 percent adequate and three percent surplus. The state’s subsoil is 78 percent adequate and two percent surplus.
