Bridging the gap for farmers

BASF is working to help farmers adapt to environmental and economic challenges.

Scott Kay is the vice president of U.S. crop protection.

“We believe farming is the biggest job on earth and farmers by nature have to adapt and adopt to all the various changes,” he says. “What BASF is trying to do is bridge the gap between farmers’ ability to adopt new things and have a high-confidence in doing so.”

BASF hosted a media tour Monday at its Seymour Research Farm.

“We’re taking our innovation and crop chemistry and seeds and seed treatments and traits but we’re also connecting data because we know farmers aren’t system integrators—they want to make it as simple as possible so they can see the results, understand those, and make a decision from them,” he says.

Kay says BASF is working to provide information so that farmers can make in-season decisions.
