Arkansas harvest chugging along

Corn and rice harvest is full steam ahead in Arkansas.

Nineteen percent of the state’s corn crop has been harvested, with 75% of the corn crop at maturity, and 69% rated good to excellent.  Six percent of the rice crop has been harvested with 96% headed, 45% mature, and 70% rated good to excellent. 

The cotton crop has 23% opening bolls and 84% of the crop is rated good to excellent.  Six percent of soybeans have reached maturity with 15% dropping leaves and 35% coloring, and 66% is rated good to excellent.  Peanuts are rated 93% good to excellent and 7% have been dug. 

Hay second cutting is 93% complete and 88% rated good to excellent, while pastures are rated just 34% good to excellent. 

Topsoil moisture dropped to 47% percent adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is rated 46% adequate to surplus.
