Farmland presents National FFA with $100,000 check

Farmland has donated $100,000 to the National FFA Organization as part of its Honoring the Heartland Tour.

Matt Riggins with Smithfield Foods tells Brownfield the donation will support FFA’s mission to develop leadership, personal growth and career success. “Really education is a big part of it,” he says. “Letting people know how important it is to continue education and get people back into education and create the awareness that ‘hey it’s not just about showing pigs at the county fair’ it’s actually teaching them agribusiness, agriscience, things like that.”

He says investments made now in education will help students prepare for the future. “When they graduate high school and perhaps go off to college, when they return to the community a lot of time, they get involved in agriculture whether it be coming back to the community teaching agriculture or more likely getting involved from a career standpoint.”

The tour stopped last Friday at the Johnson County Fairgrounds in Tecumseh, NE where Farmland presented the largest donation on the tour.
