Infrastructure package expected to follow budget resolution

As Congress returns to work this week, the U.S. House is set to make the budget, infrastructure package, and a voting rights bill top priority.

Speaker Nancy Pelosi faces opposition from nine moderate Democrats who want to take up the infrastructure package first over the budget resolution which could drag out passage for both measures.  Pelosi is also calling for the $3.5 trillion reconciliation budget to be consistent with what has passed the Senate.

Agriculture is set to benefit from the proposed budget with $135 billion in additional funds for conservation, research, forestry, and child nutrition.  How it will be paid for continues to receive scrutiny from ag groups who are concerned new tax policies could be detrimental to family farms.
