Arkansas crops update: 9% corn and 2% rice harvested

Harvest continues to progress in Arkansas despite moderate to heavy precipitation across the state.  

Nine percent of the state’s corn crop has been harvested, with 58% of the corn crop at maturity, and 68% rated good to excellent.  Two percent of the rice crop has been harvested with 92% headed, 19% mature, and 72% rated good to excellent.  The cotton crop has 16% opening bolls and 83% of the crop is rated good to excellent.  Soybeans are reaching maturity with 9% dropping leaves and 22% coloring, and 69% is rated good to excellent.  Peanuts are rated 93% good to excellent and 1% have been dug. 

Hay second cutting is 88% complete and 90% rated good to excellent.  Pastures are rated 47% good to excellent. 

Topsoil moisture is rated 59% percent adequate to surplus and subsoil moisture is rated 50% adequate to surplus.
