USDA ready to assist with organic transition costs

USDA has funding available to help producers and handlers become certified organic.

The Organic Certification Cost Share Program can help cover up to half of the costs to become certified organic including application fees, inspection costs, and other fees associated with the process up to $500 for categories including crops, livestock, state programs, and more.

The Pandemic Assistance for Producers initiative has added an additional $20 million for transitioning producers and USDA will be making more announcements on resources soon.

Applications will be accepted until November through the Farm Service Agency.
