Ohio crops varied by moisture challenges
Less than two percent of Ohio has abnormally dry conditions after continued rains have moved through the state.
Alan Leininger with Ohio State University Extension tells Brownfield crops look pretty good for the wet issues in fields.
“There’s a lot of places you have uneven looking fields where the water is obviously stressing those crops,” he explains.
In the Northwest part of the state, he says wheat harvest is finished and more dryness is needed for straw.
“I think yields will be good, but if you’ve got some areas where drainage is a problem, they’re going to show up this year for sure,” he says.
Topsoil moisture in Ohio is 96 percent adequate to surplus.
