Ethanol production up as stocks hit multi-week lows

Ethanol production was up modestly last week, while stocks got slightly tighter.

The U.S. Energy Information Administration says production averaged 1.067 million barrels a day, up 9,000 barrels on the week and 153,000 on the year.

The Renewable Fuels Association says net inputs by ethanol refiners and blenders were the highest since August 2019 and the weekly volume of gasoline supplied to the market was record large, with both well above a year ago.

Stocks declined for the first time in six weeks to 21.149 million barrels, which was a decrease of 423,000 from the previous week, but an increase of 529,000 barrels from this time last year.

The USDA says Midwest ethanol prices were mostly higher last week.

The USDA’s next corn for ethanol use is out Monday, July 12th at Noon Eastern/11 Central.
