65% of Illinois corn, 63% of soybeans are in good to excellent condition

The USDA says crop conditions declined slightly in Illinois last week.

As of Sunday, the state’s corn crop is rated 65 percent good to excellent, down three percent from the previous week, but four percent above the five-year average.

Soybeans are rated 63 percent good to excellent, down four points on the week, but consistent with the five-year average. Twenty-two percent of soybeans are blooming.

It was a productive week for winter wheat harvest, jumping from 63 to 87 percent complete.
