An Indiana farmer discusses the impact of recent rains
West Central Indiana farmer Kevin Cox says recent rains prevented him from replanting crops.
“It’s been a little exciting lately. We got everything planted, things looked great, and then we got quite a bit of rain,” he says. “We had some drowned-out spots we were hoping to replant those areas and then we got more rain so that never did happen. I have several areas being negatively impacted by the rain we’ve had.”
But, he tells Brownfield corn and soybeans are progressing well.
“At this time of year – end of June and the first of July – the crop is progressing very well,” he says. “We’ve got a great prospect for a crop out there and I’m very thankful for that. I don’t complain about rain this time of year. We’ll take what the good Lord gives us and hope that we have a great crop, and it looks like we’re going to.”
Cox farms in Clay and Parke counties.
