Bumper wheat harvest reported in Illinois

Illinois trended slightly warmer and drier than normal last week.

The USDA says winter wheat harvest is now 12 percent complete with condition 87 percent good to excellent.

Nick Harre in Nashville, Illinois says corn has started to roll after about 10 days of dryness, but early wheat harvest numbers indicate a bumper crop. “Ninety to 100 bushels, quality all so far seems good,” he says.

Soybean planting added another percent as of Sunday to 96 percent complete, still ahead of the five-year average. Soybean emergence at 94 percent with one percent blooming.  Sixty-six percent of soybeans are rated good to excellent.

Sixty-four percent of corn is rated good to excellent.
