Local organizations have partnered with Muscatine Community School District, West Liberty School District, and Wilton School District to offer a Summer Melt Mentorship Program.
Summer Melt is the phenomenon where a high school student who intends to go on to postsecondary education after high school graduation doesn’t continue their education in the fall. They “melt” away.
This summer mentorship program has been put into place to help students that may need advice on the steps they need to take over the summer. The program began June 1st and will continue through the summer.
Some services that are offered are financial aid assistance, college enrollment, career exploration, and post-secondary mentorship. These services will also be offered online and Spanish-speaking mentors are available for the students and their families.
The mentorship program is offered during the following times:
Muscatine High School, Tuesdays and Thursdays at MCC from 9-11am or at Muscatine High School 11am-2pm
West Liberty High School, Thursdays at West Liberty High from 2-5pm, zoom hours 5:10-6:30pm, and Tuesdays and Thursdays at MCC from 9-11am
