April dairy exports show demand resurgence

The U.S. Dairy Export Council says demand for dairy exports returned in April will all categories experiencing growth siting an improving port situation and record cheese shipments as leading factors.

Dairy exports during April were up 25 percent in volume to more than 211,000 metric tons with values up nearly a third to more than $690 million.

Cheese exports were up more than 50 percent, whey increased by nearly 30 percent and nonfat dry milk/skim milk powder shipments were up 16 percent.
