After a year and a half of sitting idle, the Muscatine Aquatic Center in Weed Park will swing open the gates and welcome back patrons on Saturday when the facility opens for the 2021 season, weather permitting.

“We have been working hard in recent weeks to have the center ready for warm weather fun,” Kelsie Stafford, Program Supervisor for the Parks and Recreation Department, said. “We have a great staff ready to provide a safe and memorable experience for area residents.”

The City of Muscatine joins with the staff of the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department in looking forward to welcoming the public back to the Muscatine Aquatic Center for the first time since the 2019 season. Parks and Recreation staff has spent the last several days filling the pool with water, testing the chemistry of the water, and training staff in preparation for the opening over Memorial Day Weekend.

The Aquatic Center will be open daily until mid- to late-August from 12-3:45 p.m. and 4:15-8:00 p.m. Increased sanitizing of the facility will take place during the open swim intermission.

Unvaccinated members of the public are encouraged to wear face coverings and/or social distance while gaining entry to the facility, in the locker room areas, and in concession stand lines until fully vaccinated.
