90% of U.S. corn, 75% of soybeans planted
The end is getting closer for 2021 U.S. corn and soybean planting.
The USDA says that as of Sunday, 90% of U.S. corn is planted, compared to 80% both last year and on average, with 64% of the crop emerged, compared to the five-year average of 54%.
75% of soybeans are planted, compared to 61% a year ago and 54% on average, with 41% of the crop emerged, compared to the usual pace of 25%.
47% of U.S. winter wheat is rated good to excellent, down 1% on the week and 7% on the year, with 67% headed, compared to 69% normally in late May.
94% of spring wheat is planted, compared to 85% on average, and 66% has emerged, compared to the typical rate of 56%.
49% of cotton is planted, compared to 52% on average.
95% of rice is planted, compared to the five-year average of 90%, and 76% has emerged, a little bit ahead of normal, with 71% of the crop rated good to excellent, down 3% on the week, but up 9% on the year.
28% of U.S. pastures and rangelands are in good to excellent condition, 3% higher than last week, but 22% lower than last year, continuing to show the impact of drought or near drought conditions in some areas.
The USDA’s next set of production estimates is out June 10th.
