Driest year in recent memory

Driest year in recent memory

One Mid-Michigan farmer says this year so far might be the driest in his lifetime.

“We are very dry, we have not had hardly any rain since the middle of March.  I’m 44 years old and it’s probably the driest spring that I have seen.”

Mark Senk tells Brownfield while the planting season was smooth sailing, he’s concerned about the effectiveness of herbicides.

“We have some weeds that are starting to come through already, we have not had enough rain to active them.”

Senk farms 2,700 acres of corn, soybeans and white wheat in Owasso.
