Missouri ‘looking pretty good’ for moisture

Missouri has gotten a lot of rain so far this month. State Climatologist Pat Guinan says, “If anything, it’s surplus, especially in western parts of the state and southwest Missouri. So, we’re in good shape in regard to water supply, both below the ground as well as surface water supplies.”

State climatologist Pat Guinan says some areas of southwest Missouri have had as much as nine inches of rain in the first three weeks of May and it’s too muddy in parts of the state.

He says rainfall chances diminish this weekend with temperatures more like June and July. Then rainfall could return ahead of the Memorial Day weekend with a high-pressure system moving in and the heat will continue.

Guinan made his comments on the MU online forage town hall Thursday.
