USDA extends comments on food supply chain

The USDA is seeking more comments on the food supply chain and has extended the deadline to June 21st. Stakeholders had asked for more time to respond to President Biden’s executive order. Ag Secretary Vilsack has until next February to submit a report on the supply chains for the production of ag commodities and food products. The USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service says it’s most interested in comments addressing local and regional food systems, value-added agriculture, traceability and transparency, while meeting the needs of ag workers, and socially disadvantaged small to mid-sized producers and processers.

The effects of the COVID-19 pandemic are still being felt.
