Nebraska launches ‘Beef Passport’ encouraging people to eat more beef across the state

Nebraska Governor Pete Ricketts has a launched a beef passport dining program encouraging more people to eat meat at 40 of the state’s restaurants. “This is a great opportunity to talk about what a great job our farmers and ranchers do to be able to conserve our land, how they reduce greenhouse gases and how the create and entire food source right here in Nebraska,” Ricketts said at Misty’s Steakhouse in Lincoln Wednesday.

Rancher and Chairmen of the Nebraska Beef Council George Cooksley says farmers and ranchers have always raised a healthy source of protein and this is an opportunity to share that story with consumers. “We are good at what we do, and we continue to get better and that’s the key that you want to take out of it,” Cooksley who lives between Anselmo and Dunning. “This isn’t something that static, this is something that we continue to work forward,” he says.

Consumers who get a passport can go to one of the participating restaurants, order a cut of beef and have their passport stamped.  If someone visits 11 locations by September 7, they’ll be entered in a drawing to receive a cooler of beef.
