Grassley ready to throw his weight around in support of biofuels in SCOTUS case

U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley adamantly supports biofuels as the Supreme Court considers arguments in the case involving small refinery exemptions.

The Iowa Republican tells Brownfield he would’ve been in attendance for the opening hearing Tuesday if it wasn’t virtual.

“I would go over there and sit, kind of tongue-in-cheek now, but I’d be trying to intimidate the Justices because I want them to rule favorably to biofuels.”

He says if the Supreme Court upholds last year’s 10th Circuit Court ruling that found EPA abused the SRE program, the threat of waivers would be greatly diminished.

“And if they would overrule the 10th Circuit, then it’s a brand new ballgame.”

A Supreme Court ruling is expected in June.
