Corn planting nearly complete for Ohio farmer

North Central Ohio farmer Anthony Bush says corn planting is nearly complete on his farm.

“We got started corn planting here on Monday,” he says. “The ground is working really nice and it’s actually dusty and dry all of the sudden.”

Just one week ago the farm had five inches of snow, he says.

He tells Brownfield so far, conditions are better than they’ve been in recent years.

“Our last two springs have been nightmares and this one, so far, is shaping up pretty nice,” he says. “We’re paying attention to see what the rain is supposed to do here later today and tomorrow and there are mixed reports on how much we’re going to get. But, the way this ground has dried out now it could take an inch to an inch and a half of rain and it wouldn’t hurt it too bad.”

Bush will begin planting soybeans soon.
