Survey: more consumers are cooking and eating outside

A new study has found that more consumers are cooking and eating outside. American Lamb Board Executive Director Megan Wortman says the trend isn’t going away anytime soon.

“This outdoor dining craze is here to stay with three in five respondents taking up cooking and eating outside since COVID hit in March 2020,” she says.

The survey of 2,000 Americans was conducted by OnePoll on behalf of the American Lamb Board.

Wortman tells Brownfield the survey shows that eating outside has been a bright spot for consumers during the pandemic.

“I think people have the right idea- combining nature and a great meal allows us to gather safely with loved ones and it feeds our adventurous side,” she says.

Lamb was considered the most adventurous food by one third of consumers surveyed, with mangos and sushi close behind.

“Whether you’re grilling, smoking, even cooking over an open flame, U.S. lamb is a really simple meat to cook outdoors which gives you more time to enjoy your friends and families and make memories,” she say.
