New EPA Administrator impresses Klobuchar

New EPA Administrator Michael Regan has made a positive impression on U.S. Senate Ag Committee member Amy Klobuchar.

The Minnesota Democrat tells Brownfield she had a one-on-one conversation with Regan in early March.

“Because he’s from North Carolina, and because they have a lot of rural areas, we had a really good discussion about the Renewable Fuel Standard and the need for the EPA to reject additional waivers, finalize the 2021 and 2022 Renewable Volume Obligations, and restore integrity to the RFS.”

She says they also discussed rural electric cooperatives being at a disadvantage to some of the larger providers.

“And he really got that, having had a number of them in North Carolina.”

Klobuchar chairs the Rules and Administration Committee and plans to host Administrator Regan along with several Senators on a virtual call this week to talk further about rural electrics, biofuels, and other issues.
