Soy growers support expansion of biodiesel to combat climate change

An American Soybean Association national director says biodiesel is a solution for reducing carbon emissions, that’s available today, as part of the Biden administration’s climate goals.

“It’s a simple solution because you don’t have to modify anything.”

Matt Stutzman, Lenawee County farmer and vice president of the Michigan Soybean Association, tells Brownfield he hopes EPA will also be favorable to the fuel through the Renewable Fuels Standard as more usage would benefit farmers as well as the environment.

“And raise the price of oil and soybeans together,” he says.

Stutzman served as a delegate this past week as part of the virtual Commodity Classic where the association approved policy to increase the utilization of higher-blend biodiesel to lower emissions and improve air quality.
