Wisconsin State Fair is planning a 2021 return

The chairman of the Wisconsin State Fair Park Board says he’s optimistic there will be a normal, in-person state fair this year. John Yingling of Mequon says, “At our annual meeting, State Fair Park Board did pass a series of goals and the first goal was to have a 2021 Wisconsin State Fair.”

Yingling told the State Senate Ag Committee the COVID-19 related issues are improving. “(We’re) very encouraged by what we see in terms of every announcement on vaccinations and where we are with overall COVID case numbers.”

Senator Howard Marklein is glad to hear the board is planning for a fair this year. “I’ve got so many constituents that have, that show every year so it’s a big deal.”

In 2019 when the Wisconsin State Fair was last held, nearly nine thousand animals were shown, and fair attendance set a new record of 1.13 million people over 11 days. Yingling has been nominated for a third term on the State Fair Park Board and answered Senator’s questions during a public hearing Wednesday.
