Coalition of ag and food groups call for swift confirmation of Bronaugh
Nearly 60 ag and food groups are urging the quick confirmation of Jewel Bronaugh as U.S. Deputy Ag Secretary.
In a letter to the Senate Ag Committee, the coalition says Bronaugh has spent her entire career in agriculture and has committed herself to fair and equitable administration of laws and policies.
The food and ag groups say the USDA needs experienced leaders as the nation faces challenges including infrastructure, climate, diversity, trade, and immigration. They say Bronaugh, who currently serves as Virginia Ag Commissioner, will provide outstanding leadership if confirmed.
The coalition represents one-fifth of the country’s economic activity.
The letter was signed by: American Farm Bureau, American Feed Industry Association, American Seed Trade Association, American Soybean Association, CoBank, Corn Refiners Association, CropLife America, National Association of State Departments of Agriculture, National Corn Growers Association, National Cotton Council, National Council of Farmer Cooperatives, National Farmers Union, National Pork Producers Council, National Sorghum Producers, North American Meat Institute, U.S. Dairy Export Council, and more.
