Ag Advisory Council formed for 10th District
Thumb area farmers will represent the needs of the agricultural community on a new advisory council for Congresswoman Lisa McClain.
McClain tells Brownfield while she’s new to public service, agriculture is extremely important to the 10th District and she wants to better understand the issues.
“The one thing the pandemic highlighted was the true need for broadband in these rural areas,” she says. “The other issues that we talked about today were generally on trade.”
Thursday McClain met with farmers where she says they also stressed the importance of maintaining the estate tax, the impact of raising the minimum wage and being at the table for climate change policies.
She says as work begins on the next farm bill, having direct access to farmers will also help her support policy that matters.
The council includes Clint Hagen, Carl (CJ) Bednarski, Mike Noll, Rita Herford, Kip Siegler, Larry Decock, Matt Frostic, and Charlie Lewis.
